Nigel makes it 3 from 4 at Nationals

It's starting to seem feel a little predictable and anti-climactic now. But Nigel Richards has won the North American Scrabble Championships (NSC) for the second year in a row — and the third time in four years (he was pipped for 2nd in 2009) by Dave Wiegand.

Richards finished 22–9, the same as Kanji Matsumoto and Brian Bowman, but with a superior spread.

Although the NSC is not a WESPA event and is still played under North American rules and word source, Richards is a WESPA player — the only overseas WESPA player to compete this year. Of course, that's what makes his continued success at this event so impressive — the level of 'unlearning' required for a player to switch from Collins to TWL.
