CAPE TOWN 2018 IS ON

Announcement

Cape Town International 2016 was a huge success, attracting players from ten countries across the globe. The World Number 1, Nigel Richards, was crowned the eventual winner, after leading for most of the event.

The great news is that the Cape Town International is back for 2018, to be held from January 30 to February 4 at the Garden Court Nelson Mandela Boulevard.

This time around, the event promises to be bigger and better. In wanting to draw a larger international contingent, the tournament will be divided into 3 categories: Gold (rating 1600 & above), Silver (rating 1300 - 1599) and Bronze (1299 & below) to include a wider range of players. Total prize money of ZAR208 000.00 (16 000USD).

NOTE: Even though the Tournament is divided into 3 sections (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), this is purely for prize allocation. IE, the player who ends up highest placed with a rating between 1300 -1599 will win the silver section and so on. This is an OPEN tournament

The entry fee will be 800 USD with early entries earning a 50USD discount (by end November). Registration and reception party/finger supper will be held on the evening of the 30th January 2018.

The entry fee includes:

Championship entry fee.
6 nights accommodation.
B/B at a 4 star hotel overlooking the City of Cape Town.
Daily lunch.
Tea/snacks on tap.

Furthermore Cape Town is a tourist paradise with a variety of places of interest: restaurants, beaches and outdoor activities. After the tournament, on the 5th February, a planned tour of the city which has been arranged.
