2017 - an exciting year ahead

Dear All,

As we bid farewell to an enjoyable 2016, we look forward with much excitement to 2017. Indeed there are events taking place on all five continents!

Karen Richards, our Youth supremo starts the year in the Gulf for events in Oman and Qatar which has brought us into 2017. Simultaneously, the Albany tournament sees in 2017 in the US. Then, alas, there is the last in the line of successful UK Opens due to the retirement of Len Moir. The Northern Ireland Championships is just three weeks later. In between, the exciting Capgemini International takes place in India, and the Crescent City Cup in New Orleans.

February sees events in Indonesia, Malaysia and Israel. March looks like a quiet month at the moment, so why not head to Adelaide for the South Australian Championship? April sees events in Germany, Malaysia, East Africa (ECASA), Australia and Malta (April/May).

From 20-22 May, Niagara Falls will feature a huge international CSW event (with a prize pool of over $15,000USD), with almost a hundred people already registered. Montreal is the following week.

June sees the Victorian Championship in Melbourne, while the famous King's Cup in Thailand has just been announced for 6-9 July. Just before this, the Singapore Open returns for 2017 whilst later that month, there is the North American Scrabble Championship.

Please check out our Tournaments page for events later in the year, including the WESPA Championship on 6-12 November in Nairobi, which is shaping up to be even more exciting than Perth in 2015. Please stay tuned for more announcements on this very soon!

Best wishes,

Elie Dangoor
WESPA Chairman
