Dictionary Update

The Dictionary Committee has now completed its update of CSW, including additions and deletions, and a "tidy-up" from the last edition (such as improved handling of comparative and superlative adjectives, Jeff Grant's review of New Zealand words, and removal of some "over-enthusiastic" inclusions). Committee head Darryl Francis says we can expect 2809 additions and 413 deletions. But the total change in the wordlist size is only just over 1% — surprising for such a long-drawn-out process. Collins is expected to publish the new list in May 2011, and the committee expects most countries to adopt it by January 2012.
