Las Vegas to host the first US Mind Sports Festival

Live Scrabble Coverage

Mind Sports (International) Ltd will bring its popular Mind Sports Festival concept to North American shores for the first time, descending on the bright lights of Las Vegas with a very Scrabble-packed event, spearheaded by veteran Scrabbler and WESPA committee member Sam Kantimathi. MSI, a leading event management consultancy, has already demonstrated its commitment to develop top-level Scrabble globally by taking the reins for the 2013 Scrabble Champions Tournament in December in Prague, formerly known as the World Scrabble Championship.

The event will take place at the luxurious Venetian Palazzo Congress Center from July 5–7, and will feature Chess, Mah Jongg, Magic: The Gathering, Go and Checkers tournaments running side by side with the Scrabble events.

"We are delighted to launch our first US festival in Las Vegas," comments Dave Brannan, CEO, MSI.
"Our Mind Sports Festivals have received tremendous levels of praise from around the world, predominantly due to the unique experience that it delivers. Players love the blend of competition combined with the chance to relax socially with participants from other mind sport disciplines. This, coupled with fantastic venues in highly desirable locations creates a stay-and-play experience like no other."

Furthermore, people from all over the world will be able to tune in to watch the action live on Mind Sports TV thanks to the world famous proprietary RFID Scrabble system devised by MSI. The revolutionary Scrabble set was unveiled by MSI at last year's Prague Mind Sports Festival, and was featured heavily in the international media as a brilliant use of technology to bring Scrabble coverage into the 21st century.

The Scrabble competition will run from 0900-1530 on Friday and 0900-1700 on Saturday, with 16 rounds overall and separate concurrent divisions for CSW and TWL play. More details can be found at http://www.lasvegasmindsportsfestival.com.
