Largest Primary School Scrabble Competition in Hong Kong

On February 18, 94 players from 21 schools competed in the Inter-School Scrabble Championship 2017 (Primary Category), the largest Scrabble competition for primary schools in Hong Kong.

The Inter-School Scrabble Championship was first organised by Mattel in 2004, and has been the biggest school Scrabble tournament in Hong Kong since then. After Mattel discontinued organising the Championship in 2014, HKSPA decided to organise a large school tournament under the same name so that this prestigious Championship can continue. The Championship in 2016 is the third edition of it organised by HKSPA.

The kids aged 10 to 12 played 5 rounds of Scrabble on that day. There were two divisions, namely Gold and Silver, for schools of varying levels.

In the end, Lok Wah Catholic Primary School became the Hong Kong primary school Champion for the first time in history because of their great performances in Division Gold. Wong Chun Ki from their school was also the Individual Champion. HKMLC Ming Tao Primary School won the Division Silver.

The full results can be found here.

The kids have to wait till June for the next primary school tournament - the Association Cup!

Congratulations to all the prize winners, and we hope to see some of them in the coming international youth tournaments!
